Who we are

We are a small family farm, located in Farmington, Utah.

We have lived in Farmington our entire lives, and have ancestors who helped settle and create this beautiful community.

We raise Coturnix Quail, known as the “new chicken,” due to its numerous benefits and to help us achieve self-reliance.

This project also aims to teach our grandchildren a little about entrepreneurship, business, and responsibility.

We sell adult birds, chicks, breeding groups, eggs, and quail egg balut.

Why “Flag Rock”?

The business name for Flag Rock Quail & Eggs, LLC, is inspired by two things that quintessentially define our lives and community

Flag Rock is a local landmark with a long history. It has always been an outcropping of rocks near the summit of the mountains above our home, and for as long as anyone can remember, people have been climbing to it and leaving some kind of flag on the outcropping.

In 2001, the community united, spearheaded by our neighbor, Randy West, to place an American flag there and maintain it as a monument to the lives lost on 9/11. It has become the symbol of our little town’s effort to never forget. Every September 11, our town hosts a hike to Flag Rock from Flag Rock Drive in Farmington, which is the exact same elevation climb (1362’) that the South Tower stood above the New York streets, and the height that the NYFD and NYPD heroes climbed in their effort to rescue those inside the towers. This hike has actually been attended by a member of the NYFD who lost his work partner and 42 other friends and fellow workers on 9/11.

Eggs are the other symbol of day-to-day life in our neck of the woods. We greet you in the morning by offering to cook up an omelet. Eggs hold things together; the yolk of an egg is an emulsifier, which means it allows otherwise totally disparate parts to mix. In our lives, we desire to be people who gather and unite others, despite the differences we all have.

So while we farm quail and their eggs, we felt it was important that our name have clear symbols of two of our most important values, Community and interconnectedness.

Our logo reflects the silhouette of Flag Rock with a flag, as we observe it every day from our home, with an egg-shaped backdrop to signify our values of togetherness, diversity, and a welcoming spirit. Of course, it would be nice if people think of eggs when they see it as well.
